She sat amidst the midnight calm, her hands fading into black. With comforts of what use to be she held her starry eyes back. What words will bloom, will blossom forth when all lies mystery? An emblazened heart I bring to thee, a gleam of being set free.

Gorgeous! Thanks for being the first to take the plunge Kat!

I respectfully ask to not be considered for the drawing because I am already the proud recipient of one of your wonderful prints. BUT:

    TRUSTING THE QUIET

    Quietly on soft breezes
    love notes pass,
telling me to be still in my fears,
    no nothing of them anymore.
    I am warmed and loved,
    my turmoil is soothed by
    by tender words written
    by her breath
    in my finally trusting heart.

    sight too bright for words

    Silence is golden
    the mind is at peace
    our breath is our health
    our mind is our wealth
    art is from the heart
    sound is from the soul..

What an excellent idea… my poem is about the river that flows within…

My thoughts like a river flow
    Freely without effort
    It touches the unknown
    Is constantly in motion
    Exploring
    It sits in the deep
    Silent without expression
    Waiting in abundance
    Still
    Filled with electricity
    The current draws me in
Takes me on a journey high
    Where freedom reigns
    Discovering
    It refreshes my soul
    Washes away the insecurities
    Upholds my beliefs
    Leaving me grounded
    Alive…

    The impenetrable golden head impresses
    Closes eyes in it's refusal
    Ten-inch shining Buddha sits,
Addresses. His hands folded just so

    Hovering.

    Suggesting stillness moving
    Through his shuttered concentration-
    He is fulfilled,
    He is emptied ,
    He is solid.

His thoughts move as they fly the concrete vacuum.
    He has forgotten to breathe

What an exquisite print and great idea!

    If you have to
    lop off your head
    to find the
    golden silence
    within…..
    DO IT.

Hope my little poem marries well with you image!

    Stillness

    Refreshed by the silent voice,
    Immerse in the soundless breath
    Merging in the Divine Joy,
    Falling like a Little Death.

Tranquil in this sea of Love
    Awake for Eternity,
    Smiling at the one above,
who now became one with me

Indeed this is who I am
Indeed this is all we are
At least in stillness I am
At last melting with the stars

  25. February 2, 2010 by catvibeNo Gravatar

Oh this one left me in a sea of golden tingling. And what a beautiful name you have, Aline! Aline with stillness, yes! Gorgeous, and thanks and welcome!

  26. February 3, 2010 by NevineNo Gravatar

Well, Cat, here's my small contribution. I have such a tough time with short stuff; you know I like to ramble. :-) Here we go:

    in your absence
    in my imagination
    i dream of you
    i beckon you

    you come to me
    you enter me
    you invade me
    you pervade me

and as i lay in the stillness
    i feel you inside me
    and hear your distant whispers
    of love in my heart

By the way, your art piece is magnificent… and that's an understatement.

Rachel invited me here :) Thank you
I love your print, and my husband likes it even more! I would give it to him :)

    when i think of you
    my secret love
    so many words
when i hear you enter quietly
your arms they reach for me
    mmmmmmmm
    there's nothing left to say

  28. February 3, 2010 by VesperNo Gravatar

    Cat, what a gorgeous print!
Thank you for the "nudge"… ;-)

    My heart was
    a pond of stillness
    until a leaf fell
    - your love

  29. February 3, 2010 by lenaNo Gravatar

That is such a great idea, Catherine. But when it comes to poems I have really tough time.
You have such great contributions here in the comments :)

    Here is mine though:

As I look upwards I see
How the sky is sown with stars
    And silver flame of moonlight
Reflects the stillness of the night..

  30. February 3, 2010 by AniketNo Gravatar

    In those far corners
    of life, of love
    I hunt the soul that
    once lived, once died
    Wanting another lifetime
    With you, for you
    Take me away, save me
    From chaos, from stillness.

  36. February 3, 2010 by catvibeNo Gravatar

Wow Aniket, you just took a flying leap up in the poetry department, this is stunning! Raw and honest and full of passion. <3 this.

  37. February 3, 2010 by catvibeNo Gravatar

Again raw and honest words Jason. Sometimes I feel such a boiling rebellion in your words, like here. Thank you! :-)

    Slip-standing on a rink
    full stopped,
    arms like Christ,
    bracing for the cracks
    of composure
    to jaw into crevasses,
    some broken infinity of
    figure esses,
    or a kerosene breath
    of melting waxes
to sit me in puddles of
    sloppy self-reproaches
    at the feet
    of headless things
    with frozen wings
    and beaten dreams

    or not

    Refuge

    sense of silence
    in collage
golden breath of dew framed within
    footsteps that trail inhale
    sharing exhale
    clear moment agape
    a prism ripple of movement
    simple stillness awake

Her presence alone activates all of my senses…I am under her silent spell, which permeates and detonates my soul… an explosion of love ensues

  41. February 4, 2010 by K. Lawson GilbertNo Gravatar

    From fairytale
    to mourning veil,
    I have been
    careful not to
    disturb the air
    with my breathing.
    In that stillness, I hear
    the distant rumble
    of the universe.

    Awesome painting Cat!

    Stillness, calm, silence. Listen!
    The quiet voice of seclusion
reach the sanctuary of your heart
    glide those paths of reclusion

Recline in this haven of dormancy
    lets burdens cease to be
    shelter in your inner peace
    and feel yourself set free

No prize winner, but here goes…..

    Stillness

    you don’t need

    that old bible

    or the new one either

    no chanting nor weeping

    no pulpit star

    no flickering flame

    or burning bush

    no acid

    or LSD

    you don’t need the river

    or the stars

    no scented ritual

    no flagellation

    you simply need

    stillness

    deep in your heart

    if you want to hear

    God speak

  45. February 4, 2010 by catvibeNo Gravatar

I knew this would melt me, because the imagery is like, whoa! Broken figure esses? Puddles of self reproaches? This poem feels like a dream in a Dali landscape somehow. Just, wow. <3 this Sarah.

Oh Margaret this washes over me like lapping waves on a calm blue day. Just so peaceful, like the heart inside of you my dear.

WOW Jorc! Well luckily the prize is non competitive as far as poetry submission, that just gets you into the drawing, however, if I was judging I'd have to say that this one would be a contender. I love how you have addressed all the many ways in this world to avoid hearing that voice. You put your finger on the head of the nail. God, it's good to see you Jorc!

    NOW TIME

Now is not the time for war
    Or sugared candy.
    Instead, let the effects
    Of herbal teas influence
    Your meditative process.
    Allow your head to sink
    Into your heart;
    Your unparalleled wisdom
    Only matched by the
    Compassion within your soul.

  57. February 9, 2010 by catvibeNo Gravatar

I love the line 'allow your head to sink into your heart'. I experience that when I meditate, an actual sensation that is that exactly. Thank you so much for entering A.J.! I am honored!

    Rise and Fall

    Let go of fear
and rest in that which is.
    For peace, like love,
comes to those who allow it.

    Let go of fear
    and rest in stillness.
    Watch the breath rise…
    and fall.

    Watch the tide rise…
    and fall.
    Watch towers rise…
    and fall.

    Watch walls rise…
    and fall.
    Watch statues rise…
    and fall.

    Watch empires rise…
    and fall.
    Watch the breath rise…
    and fall.

    Let go of fear
    and rest in the arms
    of the One
    who has always held you,
    the One who holds
    atoms and empires
    and oceans and stars.

    Let go of fear
    and watch what happens next.
